(04/30/1993) Mascara Año 2000 vs. Perro Aguayo (AAA)

Mascara año 2000 vs. Perro Aguayo
04/30/1993
MASK VS. HAIR
AAA

Year: 1993
Type: Mask vs. Hair
Other: Historical; Bloody

Synopsis:

A monster of a match in terms of heat, drama, and overall presentation. Perro is old and it shows. Mascara Año 2000 is a mediocre at best wrestler and that shows, too. None of that really matters, however, as all of the necessary items for a big time memorable match are there: heat, drama, violence (blood), and major near falls. Far less smoke and mirrors were needed here relative a typical Undertaker WrestleMania match, but the overall concept of this same. The booking presses all of the right buttons and you won’t find many matches that are as memorable and gigantic as this match was.

(07/18/1993) Blue Panther vs. Love Machine (AAA)

Blue Panther vs. Love Machine
07/18/1993
MASK VS. Hair
AAA

Year: 1993
Type: Mask vs. Hair
Other: Historical; Angle

Synopsis:

One year after Love Machine lost his mask to Blue Panther in CMLL, the two old adversaries met in an apuesta re-match in AAA. The match is storyline and angle driven, but it is a good storyline and a well-executed angle. Love Machine lost his mask in 1992 due to a dumb mistake and is coming to take Panther’s mask as means of righting that wrong. As is often the case with revenge plots, this one goes horribly off the rails for Love Machine. This match is an interesting comparison to the Ciclon Ramirez/Felino mask match CMLL ran earlier the same month. While the wrestling in Panther/Love Machine is only okay at best and the work in Ramirez/Felino is great, the booking of the AAA match and post-match makes it the more indelible match. This one has obvious historical implications as well given that is spawned the successful Los Gringos Locos angle.

(04/30/1993) Konnan vs. Cien Caras (AAA)

konnan vs. cien caras
Carrer vs. career
AAA
04/30/1993

Year: 1993
Type:
Career vs. Career
Other: Historical

Synopsis:

Konnan and Cien Caras headlined TripleMania I in a career versus career match that AAA built up from almost the moment the promotion started one year earlier. Despite the momentous stakes and long build, the actual match is noticeably short. Between a full card and lots of pageantry, TripleMania ran longer than expected which meant these two had to rush through their bout. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. They wrap up three falls in well under fifteen minutes and the match is basically all action. This is one of those Konnan matches where you can see how he might have been able to become a good worker had he stayed motivated and was able to recognize his limitations. The stipulations promised an emotional match and the ending delivered on that promise.
