LA FIERA VS. Bestia Salvaje

HAIR VS. HAIR

Year: 1997
Type:  Hair vs. Hair
Other: n/a

Synopsis:

This battle of the beasts is somewhat of a forgotten match. Given the circumstances – the participants, the year, the spot on the card (second from the top), and the fact that the match was several weeks before the Santo/Casas headlined anniversary show – it is easy to see how this match could be forgotten over time. The match itself is not nearly as nondescript and it is actually quite good. The two veterans know just the right buttons to press. The match is well structured, using the first two falls to build to an intense and hard fought finale. While not a classic by any means, La Fiera and Bestia Salvaje had a quality hair match that is on par or better than some more prolific hair bouts.

HAIR VS. HAIR
10/18/1996

Year: 1996
Type: Hair vs. Hair
Other: n/a

Synopsis:

This hair match serves as a bridge in the Santo/Casas feud, cementing Casas’ tecnico status and setting the scene for Santo to return and side with the rudos (including Salvaje) in a few weeks. The match itself is rather basic and straightforward, with the a couple of quick rudo controlled falls to start things out. The hook to this match is how into Casas the fans are. He milks his comeback and the fans are with him every step of the way. It is clear watching this match (and the entire feud actually) that Casas being over as his adversary was the least of the issues with Santo’s rudo turn. The third fall is fun even if it is not outstanding. There is no blood and the drama level is somewhere in the middle relative to other hair matches, but the match is easy to watch and and Casas’ babyface performance is outstanding.
