(07/14/2006) Ultimo Guerrero vs. Rey Bucanero (CMLL)

Ultimo Guerrero vs. Rey Bucanero
CMLL
07/14/2006
CMLL World Light  Heavyweight

Year: 2006
Type: n/a
Other: n/a

Synopsis:

The disappointing grudge match between one of CMLL’s most prolific duos. The match is presented and played up as a monumental match in the careers of both wrestlers and CMLL in general, but the actual match fails to capture that same level of importance. Guerrero’s title being on the line also serves to obscure what essentially should have been a major grudge match between too former longtime partners.

(06/18/2006) La Parka vs. Muerte Cibernetica (AAA)

La Parka vs. Muerte Cibernetica
MASK VS. MASK
CMLL
04/02/2006

Year: 2006
Type: Mask vs. Mask
Other: n/a

Synopsis:

A typical overbooked AAA main event match in many aspects. This mask match has more than a half-a-dozen wrestlers hanging around ringside at any given time, in-ring interference throughout, rudo referees, weapons, and everything you’ve come to expect from AAA. The most egregious part of this particular match is when a brawl breaks out between the non-match participants that spills to the backstage area. Instead of letting it go, AAA cuts away from the ring constantly to show what is going on in the back which needless to say, proves to be quite the distraction. When La Parka (II) and Muerte Cibernetica are allowed to actually have a wrestling match the results are decent but those opportunities are few and far between.

(06/18/2006) El Zorro vs. Charly Manson (AAA)

El Zorro VS. CHARLY MANSON
AAA
HAIR VS. HAIR
06/18/2006

Year: 2006
Type: Hair vs. Hair
Other: Cage

Synopsis:

A great example of how not all heavily booked AAA main events wide up being overbooked messes. There is a lot going on in this match, starting with the fact that the match carries three stipulations: hair vs. hair, cage, and last man standing. There are also weapons and run-ins. Yet, because the match has so much heat and because the gimmicks and tricks are used in a way that enhances the match rather then distracting from it, the end result is a match that is far better than it appears on paper. At the end of the day, the is still an ECW-like main event which is always going to turn off some people but the heat and the smart way the gimmicks are used help the match standout in a positive way.

(04/02/2006) Stuka Jr. vs. La Flecha (CMLL)

Stuka Jr. vs. La Flecha
MASK VS. MASK
CMLL
04/02/2006

Year: 2006
Type: Mask vs. Mask
Other: n/a

Synopsis:

Mid-card mask matches are often unremarkable but this is one of the good ones. The bout is highlighted by a ten minute final fall where there is a lot of good offense, very good heat, and dramatic near falls. This is La Flecha’s one and only moment in the spotlight and he more than delivers. While the match is not a slam dunk MOTYC, this is probably as good as good of a mid-card Arena Coliseo mask match as can reasonably be expected.
