(03/19/2000) Gran Apache vs. Oscar Sevilla (AAA)

Gran Apache vs. OScar Sevilla
AAA
03/19/2000
Super Libre

Year: 2000
Type:  n/a
Other: Bloody

Synopsis:

Mother nature added another level of intrigue to this Super Libre by pounding the ring and wrestlers with rain before and during the match. Without an overhang to protect them from the rain, Apache and Sevilla still manage to wrestle a spirited and bloody match. Even without the rain, this is an effective setup match for the upcoming apuesta bout but the rain – and the visuals it creates – make for a very memorable match.

(03/31/2000) Gran Apache vs. Oscar Sevilla (AAA)

GRAN APACHE VS. OSCAR SEVILLA
AAA
03/31/2000
Hair vs. Hair

Year: 2000
Type:  Hair vs. Hair
Other: Bloody

Synopsis:

The hair match that fell out of the rainy super libre from one week earlier. This match does not have the weather related visuals aiding it and also has Tirantes doing his rudo ref routine, but otherwise it is every bit as good as the setup match. Sevilla gets a full measure of revenge against Apache, including making Apache bleed. Even with the rudo referee deal, the finish is well executed and satisfying.

(12/21/2000) El Hijo del Santo vs. Dr. Cerebro (IWRG)

EL HIJO DEL SANTO VS. Dr. Cerebro
IWRG
IWRG Intercontinental Welterweight
12/21/2000

Year: 2000
Type: Title Match Style
Other: Recommended

Synopsis:

This is the first match in a singles match trilogy involving El Hijo del Santo and Dr. Cerebro. As a title match it is superb. As the first step in what would become a heated feud, it was nearly as excellent. The match and series could not have been better timed as Cerebro clearly had come into his own (as this match attests) by the end of 2000 and Santo still had plenty in the tank before his mid-2000’s swoon. The first two falls are very heavy on (high quality) mat wrestling and the final fall has everything you want from a third fall including excellent dives from both men. This is from the ESPN2 era of IWRG which means that the production is also superb. A great match and a great way to begin a feud.
