Daniel Bryan & Roman Reigns vs. Big Show & Kane

Not a bad match at all.  Boring and predictable with a groan inducing ending?  Yes, but not bad.  There were some loud Reigns fans tonight although he still got his fair share of boos.  The more noteworthy reaction (although note that noteworthy) was that there were some some “NO!” chants when Bryan did the “YES!” stuff.  Some people are probably going to take it too far.   It wasn’t a whole lot but there were some.  Bryan was very good in the match and is looking like he’s gotten all of the ring rust off.  The DQ finish just for Bryan being thrown over the barricade was very week.  Solid if not mundane.

Short match. J&J got involved a bunch before running in for the DQ.  Ryback is getting over pretty well so they were right in not beating him, but this kind of short match with a non-finish doesn’t help anyone.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Bray Wyatt
United States
WWE

They got it going after the commercial break, culminating in some well received near falls.  Dolph’s hard bumps – including one on a clothesline outside the ring – helped make Bray look good.  The idea was to given Bray a convincing competitive win and it was effective to that end.  When WWE wants to push a heel hard, they clearly still know how to as evidenced by Bray’s recent Undertaker match setup push.  The problem is that they don’t do it often enough.  Solid TV match.

The Usos vs. Cesaro & Tyson Kidd
United States
WWE

The quick paced match you’d expect between these two teams.  Kidd countered an Uso dive by taking him over the ropes with a body scissors.  I am not the best move describer, but it was a legitimately cool spot that they didn’t play up as much as they should have on commentary. Natalia and Naomi got into it which is the obvious progression of this issue.  Post-commercial break was very good.  Physical but smooth offense from Kid and Cesaro.  Cesaro really laid the uppercuts in tonight.  Cesaro’s out of the ring bump on Jimmy’s enzuguri (he backtracked quickly halfway across the ring than splatted to the outside) was nutty.  Good heat for Kidd kicking out of the counter super kick.  Solid.

Dean Ambrose vs. Bad News Barrett
United States
WWE

Axel is working a comedy gimmick based on not being eliminated at the Rumble.  Ambrose can’t get a match for a title that nobody really seems to care about.    So Ambrose goes over Axel here with relative ease and it does absolutely nothing for anyone.  Barrett appears on the big screen and doing some bad TMZ-parody comedy, once again turns down Ambrose’s title match request.  The entire thing is not just time killing nonsense; it is also nonsense that makes everyone involved look worse.  I know this is par for the course RAW stuff, but that entire segment annoyed me more than normal.  Just a good snapshot of how off the rails their booking is.
