Torneo Cibernetico – Pequeño Reyes del Aires
This is a showcase for CMLL’s Mini-Estrella division, wrestled under Cibernetico rules. The winner is crowned the Pequeño Reyes del Aires (“Small King of the Air”) for 2014.
There was a lot going on here. After an obligatory couple of minutes of sitting in holds, the action for the remainder of the 25 minute-ish match was all action and very good action at that. Shockercito is a tremendous flier. The multi-rotation spinning arm drag he hits later in the match is a thing of beauty as were all of his dives. This is the kind of match you could theoretically watch while doing something else because while you will certainly miss some of the action by looking away, every time you do look up there is something happening.
In comparison to the IWRG minis catch match from this same day, this match is heads and shoulders above. The flying is really great and the pace they cut is something else. Very few – if any – noticeable sloppy or blown spots also. If you want to pop in a match with a lot of great flying and all action, you cannot do much better than the Pequeño Reyes del Aires.
The match, unfortunately, ends on a down note. The final two – Eléctrico and Astral – are from the tecnico side. After a hand shake, they go right at it. Unfortunately, just as they are getting going on the finishing stretch when Electrico hits a tope con giro on Astral and on the catch, Astral appears to seriously injury his leg. The match is immediately stopped – Electrico wins the finale via count out – while Astral is attended to outside the ring.
Unfortunate injury aside, this is a really fun match and a great showcase for the CMLL minis.
